Our programs are designed to work together synergistically. The Homeschool of the Redwoods programs are our Foundation programs. They will teach you the Montessori method for teaching every subject in sequence, plus you’ll get lessons and demos of the Montessori materials. Primary is for ages 2-6, and Lower El is for 6-9. In the Foundation programs, you are learning the method and applying it.

Constellation takes those same lessons and concepts in our Foundation programs and expands them into full-fledged lesson plans with printable materials provided as a beautiful, “done for you” theme for both age groups (ages 2-9). It’s for both Primary and Lower Elementary age children. This is what we call the Practice. is a perfect way to implement the Montessori method at home for most busy homeschoolers seeking structure and routine.

That said, you do not have to join a Foundation program first. You can jump right into Constellation because it is accessible and rhythmic, even to those who are new to Montessori!

Or…like many of our members who opt for both…you could have your cake and eat it, too!

Kudos for asking, you go-getter homeschooler! The activities and printables in Constellation will support your child learning how to read + write, and lend themselves to exploring the properties of numbers. For example, we often include grammar lessons, journal prompts, word problems, and measuring activities. However, Constellation is not a sequenced curriculum for these academics.

We suggest that you combine Constellation with our Homeschool of the Redwoods: Primary or Lower Elementary programs if you are looking to learn the full Montessori method for teaching these subjects.

No way. We aim for zero to low cost activities you can do with what you own and provide printable resources for you to use. The supply list will mostly contain items you already have around your home, including basic art materials like crayons, scissors, construction paper, paint, yarn, cardboard, popsicle sticks, and other kid-friendly hobby store stuff.

We keep it simple, but we do like to get crafty with our kids, and we can ensure a quality education no matter what you spend.

Remember that arcade game where a mole pops up out of the machine at random and you try to hit as many as you can before your time is up? Do not try to homeschool your kids like this. If you are homeschooling without a clear plan and a smooth family rhythm, teaching the subjects areas at random (or ignoring them altogether), you are playing Whack-a-Mole, my friend.

Constellation will get you out of the arcade and back into the real world. Our programs use an interdisciplinary approach, which means that every Constellation lesson you teach is also working for multiple subject areas. Our members often say that the rhythm of our themes transformed their routines.
