The first time your child skinned their knee, you probably knelt down, comforted them, and then tenderly administered a band-aid (and maybe some antiseptic) to their skin. Fortunately, children heal rather quickly! From being prepared to use a First Aid Kit to understanding what antibiotics are, we can teach our children how to care for themselves and help others who are sick as well.

The lessons in this theme will make you feel sooooo much better! They are all easy activities you can do at home with simple, crafty materials you likely have around the house. Plus, you’ll be relieved to find the done-for-you printable materials inside the packet: just print, cut and start teaching!

CUSTOMER VOICES

“This soup was so soothing! While we were preparing it, we talked about how healing it would be if we were sick. It also gave us another chance to smell the different healing herbs as we chopped, diced, and minced. I could see the pride on my little one’s face as we ate. We loved HEAL so much! It was just what our family needed.” – Naomi

“We have bacteria! While we were surprised by the results, we did learn that an incorrect hypothesis can still glean valuable information. Now time to clean the kitchen!” – Sarah

“We read about microbes, how Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin, and made the agar. My son chose which spots to swab. Beautiful, but I think I will wash my petri plates in bleach! Haha 🤣” – Nafster

“Last week we looked over the cards and talked about each one. We even pulled out our own ginger and garlic from the kitchen.” – Rebecca

“Smelling bottles of curry leaves, garlic, ground cinnamon, and orange essential oil were a success!” – Joanna

This theme was very appealing to my 6yo daughter! She absolutely loved the recommended books (they are always fantastic!), the science activity that allowed us to grow bacteria, and creating our own first aid kit. I would never have thought to have my kids make a first aid kit! But she loved it and has used it many times since (for real and pretend injuries!). It was such a practical and helpful activity (and something that I never did in traditional school). I love how the Kintsugi was also incorporated into this theme too – “healing”/repairing broken things. Aubrey and team are so creative!

There are so many fantastic themes in Constellation, but Heal might just be our favorite! I’ll be honest, at first I didn’t know if my super-active 7yo would be that into the herb/healing/nurturing theme, but we dove in and the first-aid kit hooked him right away. The book list is awesome, and I think we ended up doing every single activity in the packet! We still circle back to some of them (like updating our first aid kid, mending with Kintsugi and growing bacteria in Petri dishes) — I just love how Constellation themes become a part of our life!
