Did you know: there are almost 900,000 officially named and reported islands on our planet Earth, and they are not all alike! We tend to think of tropical islands first, but islands come in all kinds of climates with animals and plants that are uniquely suited to them. From the warm archipelago of the Galapagos to the frigid waters of Iceland, your child will be amazed at the biodiversity and physical features of islands.

The lessons in this theme are beachy keen! You need easy activities you can do at home with simple, crafty materials you likely have around the house. Plus, you’ll be relieved to find the done-for-you printable materials inside the packet: just print, cut and start teaching!

As recent newcomers to Constellation, the Island Theme was the one where we found our rhythm – literally. There were so many wonderful extensions to pique the natural curiosity of my little one! Our favorite activity was the salt-dough island. He still shows it to people who come over and visit.

  2. Cynthia Mitchell

The island theme was so fun for my kiddos! They loved playing match with the island loving animals and finding islands on our globe. We also enjoyed trying types of tropical fruits. It was engaging and helped draw my children into the topic.

  3. Laura

Visually striking, easy to follow and fun to read!!

Island introduced our 4 year old to the concept of land and water topography through the lense of a micro / macro relationships between land and water, people and animals… It also engaged so many other topics – geometry, life science, numeracy, socio-emotional learning, and of course – language (which I personally love Aubrey’s literary spins on classic grammar lessons!)

If you are looking for something geographically linked that touches upon all core subjects, this is a great buy.
